A garage now runs its whole workshop on software I built. Eleven hours, in two sittings. 53 edits, one revert. I'm not a developer.
Work orders. Purchase orders straight from the inbox. Invoices ready for Peppol. A login for each mechanic.
How I'd do it again:
- 1Write down the one workflow that hurts most, step by step, before you open any tool.
- 2Build the first version in one evening. It will look finished. It won't be.
- 3Spend the second evening on logins, roles and security. That day is the product. Nobody ever demos it.
Most small businesses pay every year for software built for someone else. That is about to become a very hard sale.
What are you paying for every year that's really a two-evening job?
