Every weekday at 09:45 an agent builds our daily promo files. It runs on my laptop, because that's where the tools and the files are. If the lid is closed, nothing happens. Nobody notices until someone asks where today's file is.
What I changed, and what I'd tell anyone:
- 1Add a watchdog. A second agent checks at 10:32. No build in the log, and my phone buzzes.
- 2Know your expensive day. A missed Friday costs three days, because Friday builds the weekend.
- 3Ask of every job: does it need my laptop? If not, it shouldn't run there.
Everyone argues about which model to use. Almost nobody asks where it runs.
