Our marketing ran on 20 spreadsheets. Missions in one, promos in another, planning in a third. Everyone had edit rights, nobody had the latest version, and the real plan lived in my head.
So I built one hub behind one Google login. The agency sees three pages. I see all of them.
How to do it:
- 1List every sheet and who actually edits it. Most have one owner and ten readers.
- 2Turn each sheet into one page with one owner. Everyone else reads.
- 3Test it on a quiet day. On our first Sunday test, three of the four "create" buttons did nothing. Good news: the structure was right, the rest was plumbing.
A shared drive isn't a system. It's where versions go to multiply.
How many spreadsheets is your company really run on?
